Presidents Message

Happy New Year!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sport Oakville’s member clubs including their respective coaches, players and volunteers for their continued support in our non-profit organization. I wish you all a healthy and safe year.

The onset of COVID-19, in March 2020, brought an unprecedented year of uncertainty and disappointment with respect to Sport Oakville’s inability to hold its annual awards banquet, implement its Development Grants Program and carry on with the Outreach Initiative Program. During the year, Sport Oakville’s board (along with our Town of Oakville Liaison) held their monthly “virtual” meetings to discuss the situation as it evolved and listened to the concerns brought up by the club members.

Sport Oakville made the difficult decision to cancel the organization’s programs with the hopes that we may be able to resume its implementation in 2021. The safety of the Sport Oakville board, along with the clubs’ players and volunteers was of utmost importance during this uncertain and challenging year. Sport Oakville has been in frequent communication amongst the board and with the Town of Oakville with regards to planning for 2021. We hope to be able to resume our mission in some form of normalcy and deliver our programs. Sport Oakville will continue to closely monitor the pandemic situation and keep our member clubs updated and informed on what to expect during the year. In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy! We are optimistic that if we all do our part we can overcome this virus that has kept our local community from doing what they love, being active through sports.
